SCC STAGES SHOW HOPE BENEFIT

This month marks National Adoption Awareness Month and Steven Curtis Chapman is spreading the word through his Show Hope organization. On Sunday (November 8 to be exact) he stages a benefit concert known as "Orphan Sunday," which will take place in Nashville but be simulcast through Moody Radio Network, plus a webcast at www.OrphanSunday.org and streaming at www.GospelMusicChannel.com. In addition to Chapman, the show features Geoff Moore and Children of the World Choir.

NEW CHRISTMAS COLLABORATION

The songwriting duo of Scott Krippayne and Jeff Peabody are perhaps best known for penning the track "This Is My Now," performed by Jordin Sparks on "American Idol." But this Christmas marks collaboration for the pair in the form of "God Bless Us," which was just cut by Echoing Angels. "The chorus is obviously a reference to Tiny Tim's famous line from A Christmas Carol, but the verses were really inspired by him as well," explains Peabody. "At one point in the book, his father, Bob Cratchit, tells his wife that Tiny Tim had hoped people at church would see his crutches and think of the one who makes the lame to walk and the blind to see. That felt profound and poetic, and it became the spark for the song."

NORMA JEAN'S NEW RECORD DEAL

Hard rockers Norma Jean first found fame on Solid State Records, though these days, the group makes the jump to the mainstream major leagues via Razor & Tie. The group will release a new album in the summer of 2010, though in the meantime, members embark upon the Explosions 2009 American tour spanning from late November through December.
